NIOA Pastoral and RL Pastoral have released their 2026 sale catalogue, once again showcasing a strong concentration of progeny from some of the Santa Gertrudis breed's leading sires.
The strength and consistency of the 63 bulls on offer at Talgai Homestead on September 3 extends across both the NIOA Santa Gertrudis and Riverina drafts, headlined by current Australian breed record-holder $250,000 Yarrawonga Spartacus S316 (P) - 19 lots - and eight sons of former record-breaker Riverina Roland Sanchez R088 (PP).
Add to that 11 sons of the highly regarded Yulgilbar Platinum P270 (PP), five sons of Yulgilbar Major General M78 (PP) and 11 lots sired by NIOA Ronaldo R32 (AI) (P), plus new genetics from 2023 spring sale topper Cree Jackaroo T042 (PS) and buyers will have an opportunity to access some of the most influential bloodlines available in Australia.
NIOA Santa Gertrudis general manager Shannon Gardner said the catalogue built on the momentum generated by the stud's strongest sale result since partnering with RL Pastoral in 2022.
"Last year was a significant milestone for the program and much of that success was driven by the first sons of Yarrawonga Spartacus and Riverina Roland Sanchez coming through the sale ring," he said.
“They accounted for more than half of the 2025 sale book and reflected a breeding strategy focused on proven genetics, performance and commercial relevance.”
Their influence features prominently again in this year's offering.
"Spartacus and Roland Sanchez have stamped tremendous consistency across the herd," Mr Gardner said.
“They combine structural soundness, length, performance, fertility and temperament, which are traits commercial producers continue to prioritise.
"Our clients tell us they want good working bulls. We are now seeing the benefits of that investment with large, uniform sire groups that give buyers confidence when selecting multiple bulls."
A notable addition to the 2026 line-up is the first offering of sons by Cree Jackaroo, the standout sire from the 2023 Cree Santa Gertrudis sale.
Mr Gardner said the six 2024 spring-drop Jackaroo sons represented an exciting new chapter in NIOA’s breeding program.
"We've been very deliberate about introducing new bloodlines that complement our existing cow herd while maintaining the type, functionality and performance standards we expect," he said.
"Cree Jackaroo offered exactly that opportunity and we are excited to see his first sons offered to the market."
The catalogue reflects more than a decade of investment in elite Australian and American genetics, supported by artificial insemination, embryo transfer and IVF programs.
Sale manager and Riverina stud principal Rob Sinnamon said buyers would find a line-up that met the needs of both stud and commercial operations, with a focus on fertility, weight-for-age performance, adaptability and structural integrity.
"Whether buyers are looking to secure a future herd sire or assemble a team of bulls with predictable performance, this year's catalogue offers tremendous depth right through both studs' drafts," he said.
"The influence of Spartacus, Roland Sanchez, Platinum, Major General and Ronaldo is clearly evident, while the addition of Cree Jackaroo and Murgona Panther progeny demonstrates our commitment to continually introducing elite new genetics."

The NIOA RL Pastoral Sale will be held at Talgai Homestead, Allora, on Thursday, September 3, with inspections from 10am and the auction commencing at 12 noon. Online bidding will again be available through Stocklive.
NIOA will hold a bull walk on Saturday, August 1 from 10am-2pm at “Panorama”, 454 Dalrymple Creek Rd, Allora while RL Pastoral will hold an inspection day at “Mayfield” Kyogle on Sunday, August 23 from 10am-3pm.
